4 Ways to Let Go of Regrets

regrets

This is going to be a simple life lesson, something to pin on your board. There should be no regrets in life, am I right? Regretting something causes a little pain in your chest, called anxiety, which sounds somewhat trivial but it’s actually not.

So, in order to avoid all of those, here’s a trick: don’t look back!

1. No regrets, just lessons learned

I’m always saying that there are no such things as mistakes. Yeah, sure, sometimes we make a bit of a mess, but that’s okay. The truly important thing about it is to learn from past experiences and then just…let them go.

When not-so-good things happen in our lives, we need to deal with them in the best way we can. Here, check out my post on how to move past negative feelings, like hatred.

2. And in the meantime…

In fact, it’s quite an easy thing. Just go out there and enjoy the world. Do the things you love the most, surrounded by the people who you love the most. That’s the key, really.

Do you want to go on an adventure? What’s stopping you? If Forrest Gump could go running without stopping, why can’t you?

Okay, maybe there are some dreams you can keep on hold for a while, but that’s no reason for you to keep quietly sitting down until “great” things just happen. You make them happen.

3. Treat Yourself

There are always plenty of new things to do even in your everyday life! I don’t know, like…going to that restaurant you’ve always wanted to try but never had the time.  Or, do you remember that nice sweater you saw once in a shop? Why not go for it?

Take a walk through a lovely park. Drink a nice cup of coffee. Enjoy the little moments.

Or maybe, if you’re feeling lonely, go and get a pet. Believe me, you won’t regret that.

4. Live it Like You Mean it

What I’m really trying to say here is that we only get one chance at life. So there should be no excuse for you to go out there and live it at its fullest. Seek out wonderful experiences, those which you have been yearning for.

That’s what I do in my life, simply because I don’t want to look back one day when I’m old and weak and regret all the things I didn’t do even if I could have done them. This is a lesson I learned from my grandma. Every second sentence she said was about regretting not doing something when she could have.

So that’s my choice. I won’t live to regret a single day.

And I highly recommend this for anyone. It certainly gives your life a bright side and nice moments to look forward to.
